Frequently ask questions

What is independent shared housing?

Shared independent supportive housing is when people share a home but live mostly on their own, while still having access to some support services—like help with transportation, budgeting, or community resources—so they can stay independent.

Who is eligible for independent shared housing

People eligible for independent shared supportive housing are usually those who can live on their own but still benefit from some support services. This can include:

          Seniors
         People with mild disabilities
         Veterans
Adults in recovery or rebuilding stability after homelessness
        Individuals who need affordable housing

Specific eligibility depends on the housing program’s guidelines.

How long can individuals stay in independent shared housing

Independent shared housing stays vary in duration based on program criteria, individual needs, and available resources.  While some programs offer short-term transitional housing, others offer longer-term support aimed at assisting participants in becoming independent and stable in their residence.

How can I apply for independent shared housing

In order to apply for shared supportive housing, people usually need to get in touch with the program provider directly or receive a referral from a community organization, social service agency, or medical professional.  Participating in interviews or screenings, submitting documentation of eligibility, and finishing an intake assessment are all possible steps in the application process.

Is it safe and secure to live in independent shared housing?

Indeed, the goal of shared supportive housing is to give participants a safe and secure place to live. To guarantee the well-being of program participants,  safety measures include routine property maintenance, security procedures, and personnel supervision.

Do you offer refunds?

Any money paid for the program is not refundable.  If we're not a suitable fit, we'll try our best to meet participants' requirements and send them to other providers or community services as needed.

Do you provide families housing?

We do not currently have apartments accessible for women with children or families.  Adult singles are the target audience for our program.  We advise getting in touch with neighborhood associations, housing authorities, homeless shelters, or social assistance agencies.
